Using Medications

Safely

Labels:
The labels on medications are very important, especially for understanding proper dosages and how often you should take your medication. Make it a personal habit each time you get a medication to read the label. This is especially true of adults responsible for giving medications to children!

Dosages:
Use the exact amount and frequency ordered by your surgeon. If you are unsure or have questions, be sure ot ask your pharmacist when you pick up your prescription.

Children and Prescription Drugs:
  • Store all medications out of reach of children!
  • Do not measure liquid medication with a kitchen spoon. There are pediatric measuring devices available at the pharmacy. Ask for one when you get your prescription filled.
  • Always watch your child take all their medication.
  • Call the nearest hospital emergency room if your child takes too much of any medicine.
