Before Your Surgery:

Lab Work: All your necessary lab work must be completed
prior to the day of surgery. Alabama ENT and Medplex Outpatient
Surgery Center Preoperative Services will inform you of what needs
to be done and when it is due.

Paperwork: All necessary forms required by Medplex
Outpatient Surgical Center must be completed prior to your surgery.

Transportation: Make sure that you have made arrangements
for someone to drive you home after your surgery. Someone should be
present in the waiting room during your procedure.

Fasting: You should have nothing to eat or drink
after midnight, unless specifically stated by your surgeon.

Additional Costs & Insurance: Be sure to check
with your insurance company regarding coverage for fees such as surgery
center fees, anesthesiology, pathology and laboratory charges that
may be in addition to the surgery fee for Alabama ENT. Your
best source of information for which extra fees will be involved and
their costs is the Medplex Outpatient Surgical Center (205-985-4398).

Arrival Time: Someone from Medplex will call you
the day before your surgery to tell you what time to arrive. If
you have not heard from them by 10:00 a.m. the day before your surgery,
call them at 985-4398.

Hygiene: Cleanse your face and wash your hair the
night before or the morning of your surgery.

Do Not Take 2 Weeks Prior to Surgery: Ibuprophen,
Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Goody’s Powders, Vitamin E, blood
modifiers/thinners, antiflatulent agents, appetite suppressants, or
the following herbal products: ginger, feverfew, garlic, gingko-biloba,
